Popcorn Festival Car Show

The Popcorn Festival Car Show is always held on the Sunday of festival weekend, which is the weekend after Labor Day each year. For 2009 the date will be Sunday, September 13. The show is held in Shoup Park, located at 1341 Meadowbridge Dr in Beavercreek. Registration for the Open Class is from 9-12 and awards are around 3:30. The show is both an Invitational & Open Class event. For 2009 the Invitational classes will be VW (all), Street Rod, Street Machine, Sports Car, Truck, American Classic, and Class of '69. For 2008 we had an "Original Owners" class for people that were the original owners of '60s and early '70s muscle cars and found 16 of these cars. No other car show in this area has ever had an "Original Owners" class. In 2007 our sponsor, Precision Autosports, built from a pile of parts and fired up a small-block FORD engine under the stop watch. In 2008 we had a race car on a chassis dyno that was run to see the peak horsepower. In both years the 50-50 drawing was based upon these events. You had to guess the number of minutes & seconds that it would take them to build and fire the engine in 2007 and you had to guess the peak horsepower of the race car in 2008. Who knows what special attraction we'll cook up for this year?
